Apple Vision Pro is still in its early stages, but a married couple has discovered that this headset can play a role in the adult entertainment industry.
VR has witnessed various technological innovations, with applications ranging from immersive video games to educational simulations. However, the adult entertainment industry often pushes the boundaries of VR, exploring new ways to create more immersive and intimate experiences.
The introduction of the Apple Vision Pro headset provided an opportunity for amateur performers like Damien Soft and Diana Soft, who were among the first to use Apple Vision Pro to create VR adult content.
According to 404 Media, amateur performers who may not have access to traditional adult platforms can now showcase their talents and fulfill people’s fantasies through VR. Apple Vision Pro could be a game-changer for these performers, allowing them to express themselves in ways that were previously unimaginable.
Initially, the Softs rented a Canon DSLR and a dual fisheye lens and upgraded their computer to handle 4K video. While they were satisfied with the content they created, Damien pointed out the exciting possibilities of VR, but they were initially hesitant.
Due to the high cost of equipment, the complexity of the process, and the limited audience for VR content, they didn’t fully commit to VR adult entertainment at first. However, their interest was reignited with the launch of Apple Vision Pro in June 2023.
Damien stated, “The built-in cameras in the headset were a big incentive, but what ultimately convinced me was that the iPhone 15 already had the capability to shoot spatial videos. We purchased the Apple Vision Pro on launch day, fully aware that we might break even… but we were determined to inject some real-life intimacy into the world of VR adult entertainment.”
The couple was concerned that the VR headset might create a barrier, as Diana likes to look into her husband’s eyes during intimate moments. When shooting with the Apple Vision Pro, the EyeSight screen clearly displayed her husband’s eyes.
Damien noted, “Fortunately, this approach made it easier for us to overcome barriers, and when I re-watched the video, it quickly recreated the intimacy we usually share.”
The couple recorded videos using the iPhone 15 Pro Max and an app specifically designed for Vision Pro called Spatialify for 3D video recording. However, they mentioned that the headset’s built-in cameras could capture images in depth, leading them to prefer recording directly through the headset itself.
The scarcity of adult content compatible with Vision Pro presented a significant challenge, prompting the couple to distribute their content in the MV-HEVC file format, packaged in a zip folder compatible with the Apple headset, as well as in side-by-side formats suitable for devices like the Oculus. The Softs established a dedicated website to commercialize these products, supporting purchases via Stripe and PayPal.
Damien stated, “Ultimately, Apple Vision Pro is a big step towards more DIY VR adult content, greatly simplifying the filmmaking process. Although the editing process I’ve outlined is painful, it’s much easier than using a Canon camera two years ago! As VR technology continues to advance, we can only expect more exciting developments in VR adult entertainment, further blurring the line between reality and fantasy.”
